DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE LAW AND PROPERTY DEPARTMENT OF THE LAW FIRM JURENERGOCONSULTING, TOOK PART IN THE SECOND INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON THE INDEMNIFICATION OF NUCLEAR DAMAGE
Kyshko Oksana, Director of corporate law and property department of the Law Firm JurenergoConsulting, took part in the second International Workshop on the Indemnification of Nuclear Damage, which was co-organized by the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency and the Slovak Nuclear Regulatory Authority and took place on 18-20 May 2005 in Bratislava, Slovak Republic.
In an attempt to accommodate the desired objectives of the workshop, two fictitious scenarios have been selected: the first involves a fire in a nuclear installation located in the Slovak Republic which results in the release of significant amounts of radioactive materials into the atmosphere; the second involves a fire on board a ship transporting enriched uranium hexafluoride along the Danube River. The first scenario has been designed with a view to involving the greatest possible number of countries while the second is intended to be restricted to those with a geographical proximity to the Danube. Both scenarios, however, aim to evaluate the compensation mechanisms which would be implemented in countries where nuclear damage has occurred.
